About the event

Turn everyday objects into interactive inventions with Makey Makey! In this hands-on class, participants learn the basics of electricity—circuits, open vs. closed loops, and electrical conduction—then run quick experiments to discover what’s conductive (bananas? foil? graphite?) and why. With that foundation, they’ll design and wire up a project of their choice: a playable musical instrument or a custom video game controller built from everyday materials.

Ready for a deeper challenge? More advanced students will use Scratch to code their own simple game or musical app and map it to their Makey Makey inputs for fully custom interactions. The schedule is simple and kid-friendly: one hour of guided instruction and building, followed by one hour of free play to iterate, decorate, collaborate, and play-test their creations. Or explore other awesome options at the makerspace!

All materials are provided, and students can save their Scratch projects to keep exploring at home.
